Safety check reminders in UnitCare: never miss a gas or EICR date
The short version
- Add each certificate's expiry date once.
- We email you a month before, a week before and if it goes overdue.
- When it's renewed, press Done and the next date is worked out for you.
Adding a check
- Open Safety checks from the menu, or scroll down on any property page.
- Pick the property and press Add a check.
- Choose what it is. There's a list of common ones, like the Gas Safety Certificate (CP12), the electrical safety report (EICR) and the EPC. You can also choose Something else for things like boiler servicing or gutter cleaning.
- Enter the date it runs out, and how often it needs doing. The common checks fill this in for you.
- Press Save.
Reading the list
Each check has a coloured dot:
- Green: all good.
- Amber: due in the next 30 days. Time to book it.
- Red: overdue.
The numbers at the top show how many are overdue, due soon and fine across all your properties.
When it's done
Press Done next to the check. UnitCare records today as the date it was done and moves the next due date forward, for example by 12 months for gas or 5 years for an EICR. If the new certificate gives a different date, remove the check and add it again with the date from the certificate.
Gas checks can be done up to 2 months early without losing time. Read how that works.
Which checks to add
At minimum, most landlords in England should track:
- the gas safety certificate (every year), if the property has gas
- the EICR (at least every 5 years)
- the EPC (valid for 10 years)
See the landlord compliance checklist for the full list.
